Editing your story matters.

“Writing is really a way of thinking — not just feeling but thinking about things that are disparate, unresolved, mysterious, problematic, or just sweet.”
—Toni Morrison

Think about it.

Every writer needs an editor.

You’ll write a more honest story if you have an editor who senses where you’re hesitating and celebrates when you’ve been bold.

An astute editor is your closest reader: someone who can help you play with language, someone who can be honest with you, someone who can cut away what does not belong to reveal what’s important.

Hire me to edit your story.

Choosing me as your guide means you’ll have a supportive and experienced partner in the process of editing and revising your story.

If you work with me, I’ll help you find your focus. I’ll identify the heart of what you’re trying to offer and the audience it might reach.

I have a clear eye for what makes a good story. I can help you develop a strong voice and clear structure in service of the reader. I’m the astute editor you need.

Working with me one-on-one means you’ll have my full attention. Each quarter, I work with only a few clients on their manuscripts or book proposals.

This gives me the chance to focus on you and your work fully.

Here’s what I offer.

Developmental Editing

I’ll help you shape your manuscript into a piece of writing that will move other people.

I see your story and how it can become more powerful by working with the structure of your book, the narrative arc, the voice, what’s working well, and what’s missing from your work.

Book Proposal Coaching

Book proposals are a sales pitch for publishers. If you’re an incredible writer, but you have no sense of the market in which you’re trying to sell that book, you won’t be getting a book deal.

I can guide you through the  process of creating and revising a book proposal that will get attention.

Editing Services

I also offer my services as a developmental editor of single pieces.

I’ll offer you suggestions on the structure of your piece of writing, the narrative arc, the voice, what’s working well, and what’s missing from your work. But on a single piece I can also dig into individual sentences.

Let’s get that piece of writing done.

Next steps.
